Fish and Game Commission Fails to Affirm Tribal Rights (06-29-11)
IndyBay – As part of the Marine Life Protection Act, Department of Fish and Game would require tribal members to buy a state fishing license. Members disagree with this approach stating the state can not separate fishing from our culture.

Dam to Be Removed on Carmel River (05.20.11)
The Foundation has worked for several years to remove the largest dam in California and the country. The dam was deemed seismically unsafe and poses a threat to downstream residents. The Foundation’s Dr. Monica Hunter has partnered to gain support and now funding for the dam’s removal.


New Executive Director Announced (3-25-11)
Bruce Reznik will take the reins at the League and Foundation beginning May 1, 2011. He has extensive experience in water and sustainability issues. In his new role he will continue to advocate for policies that will reshape California into a model for sustainability, prosperity, and vibrant communities.

Former PCL ED Gets Appointed as Deputy Secretary (1-20-11)
Longtime League and Foundation Executive Director Jerry Meral was appointed by
Governor Brown to be Deputy Secretary of Natural Resources. Meral will focus on the Bay Delta Conservation Planning Program.
