Central Coast Water Program Manager
Dr. Monica Hunter has worked as the Central Coast Watershed
Program Manger through the Planning and Conservation League
Foundation since March 2004.
Dr. Hunter is a social scientist with over ten years of
experience with coastal and ocean resource planning and management
processes. Through PCLF, Monica is directly involved with
Central Coast nonprofit watershed groups and land conservation
organizations engaged in restoration and management planning
processes in partnership with state and federal resource
agencies. Dr. Hunter is also involved with efforts to increase
awareness and interest in the nexus between the terrestrial
and the marine environment, including new efforts to implement
ecosystem-based management of coastal and ocean resources.
As a field scientist, she has designed and implemented both
formal and informal stakeholder processes, and has experience
working with the general public including community-based
grassroots organizations regarding both coastal as well as
marine resource issues. In May of 2005, Dr. Hunter was selected
by Governor Schwarzenegger for appointment to the Central
Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board.
